How it works
Install and join
Install the codetraces tool and join with your email address.
Approve the device
Open the link we email you and check that it shows your terminal's code.
Read your report
Your traces upload in the background. Reports arrive by email on Mondays and cover the previous week.
The exchange
The service is free. In return, you share your traces with us: prompts, code, commands, and file paths. Secrets the tool recognizes are removed on your machine before upload, and projects you exclude are never uploaded. We analyze traces across users, and we may license or sell de-identified datasets derived from them, including to train AI models.
Where your data is stored
Your traces, reports, and account details are stored in the EU, and reports are built there. To write each report's findings, we send your weekly metrics and masked excerpts of your traces to Anthropic's API, which may process them outside the EU. Web requests, uploads in transit, and emails pass through Cloudflare's global network. The privacy policy has the details.
